The following are my ratings that I post here on this site:
This equates to this book was on the bad side and not that enjoyable for me, as a reader. We all have our individual tastes and likes. For me, this one just didn’t meet my specific likes. This will not always mean that I hated the book. Simply that it was not a “good read” for me.
This equates to a normal read. Most books will fall into this category, if I enjoyed them. This is my mark that it is a book worth reading, but was not so memorable that I want to sing its praises from the mountains. Most books fit into this middle range because I believe, as a reader, I should not LOVE LOVE LOVE every single book. I believe most books are going to be books that I finish and go, “I finished that book.”
This equates to a memorable read for me. These are the books that I am saying they are so very good, to me. We again all have our own likes and dislikes. This one I liked enough that I want it to stand out as a favorite, a good one, or something unique. These are reserved for those that I am saying that I enjoyed so much that I want to remember that I loved it.
NOTE: Please notice that I am only using a 3-tiered system here and not a 5-star rating. This is because to me my reading blog is not about being overly critical about books and their ratings. Instead, I want to emphasize what I enjoyed or didn’t enjoy about the book. Having a simplified rating system puts the focus, for me, back on my own thoughts about the book, instead of trying to nitpick down to a specific rating. This rating system makes it simple for you, the blog reader, to also know if I disliked it, was okay in the reading, or if I really enjoyed it. These are my personal three modes in reading, so my ratings reflect this.
If you want a more critical rating of the books, please find my goodreads page. There I do rate on their 5-star rating system. This can provide you with a better idea of my more critical rating. Here I do not desire to be that level of critical, instead I want to promote positivity and reading.
